Set in the summer of 2007 on the remote, windswept highlands of northern Tibet — known as the "Roof of the World’s Roof" — From Afar is a quiet and haunting tale of love, longing, and cultural encounter.

The story follows a young British woman working as an English teacher in Beijing, who ventures to the Tibetan plateau in search of the elusive black-necked cranes. Lost in the vastness of the land, she is guided by a young Tibetan herdsman. Over the course of a single day, the two strangers forge a fragile and unexpected connection — one that blossoms into love but soon descends into tragedy.

With lyrical precision and emotional restraint, the story explores the tensions between intimacy and distance, freedom and fate, and the invisible lines that separate and bind us across cultures and landscapes.
